Happy Birthday First Presbyterian! by olivetreeann

Happy Birthday First Presbyterian!

I didn't get a chance to post this on the 25th, but that's the day it was taken. Our congregation began meeting officially on September 25, 1825 and turned 186 years old this past Sunday. As we sang Amazing Grace for the final hymn, I could picture those faithful people many years ago, gathering and singing in the same fashion. It's a wonderful feeling to be connected to the past in that way. So, Happy Birthday First Presbyterian! May God bless you with many more!!

A beautiful church. Your church has quite the history. Your photo turned out nice, and I like how the church is framed in the trees and agaisnt the beautiful blue sky.

@bkbinthecity Thanks bkb!
@dmariewms Thank you Marie! It's a church with a long history for sure!
@digitalrn Thanks Rick! It was a beautiful day, and I was taking the picture for the facade theme at first. But when the pastor announced it was the church's birthday, my plans changed!

Beautiful photo and story, Ann! That church has witnessed many events of all kinds, I'm sure. Interesting history there.

@karenann Thanks Karenann- it does. It actually began as a ministry to loggers. The logging industry is long gone here, but thankfully the church isn't.

@sarasdadandmom Thanks Terry- all of the stained glass windows in this building are quite beautiful. One, in fact, may be a Tiffany window, but no one knows for sure. I've tried to photograph it, but the organ is sort of in the way. I think I need a ladder.
