@kerristephens Thanks Kerri! @sarasdadandmom Thank you Terry. It's always been important to me to vote- even though there are not many candidates I think deserve it sometimes!!! I know the sacrifices for my freedoms are very dear, so I've never taken the responsibilty lightly. @melorac Thanks Carole. These machines are fairly new. All computerized- just push the button next to the candidate you are voting for. I sort of miss the first ones I voted in where you pulled down the lever. Then there were the ones with cards you punched out holes in (which I never really liked). I must admit though, voting in this machine goes very quickly. @steeler Thanks Howard! @summerfield lol Summerfield! They didn't know I took the picture. There is a curtain that goes around the machine giving you privacy, so as I stood there I pulled out my little p/s and took a quick snap before I opened the curtain. It's my vote, so the only privacy issue I've compromised is my own. How brave am I! @digitalrn Thanks Rick. It might have been a little higher here- we have some local contests going on where the incumbents are being given a run for their money. But it did seem like the parking lot was a bit empty yesterday although I went at a time I knew it would be lighter.
@dmariewms Thank you Marie! @httpgeffed Thanks Colleen! @sanera Thank you Samantha! @mrssmith Thanks Carla! @changingtides Thanks Allie- I don't know if anyone else is doing it. But then again, I am behind in all my viewing so, maybe I'll discover some shots as I'm catching up. @cortens Thanks Julie- wow- I don't think I've ever voted that way except in one church we belonged to. I guess it's more of a commentary on the day and age we live in- that we rely on machines for everything.
@alia_801 Thanks Alia- it's not as complicated as it looks- I just shot the picture so the squares would stand out. There are three columns for each political party- Republican, Democrat and Independent in a general election. Most people have chosen a candidate according to their political party affiliation, so they just look for the appropriate column and push the square next to the name of their candidate.
I will never forget going to an old brick school in my hometown with my mom. Walking across the creaky, smelly wooden floors and getting in the old timey voting booth and the curtains closing behind you..pulling the big lever (she let me do that part). So cool. We now get a credit card thing, put it in a machine and tap the computer screen. big difference. but not much difference in what politics is all about though....
@espyetta The first time I voted it was in the old machine with the lever (and like you I went with mom a few times over the years too!). We don't have the credit cards here in my part of Pa. and the curtains don't open and close. You just press buttons. Boring! True about the politics though!
