F by olivetreeann

F

From Egypt to Aramaic to Hebrew to Phoenician to Greek and on to Latin and many more, letters have traveled to and fro so that humankind could communicate, document and express ideas and facts. When the Greeks borrowed from the Phoenician alphabet and adapted it to their own language, they created the first "true" alphabet in which vowels were counted as equal to consonants. According to the historian Heordotus, the alphabet was brought to Greece from Phoenicia by Cadmos.
Great find

I'm loving this "alphabet" history, Ann. You are so creative. This is a beautiful "f." I also think that it would make a nice small (decorative) "k." But that's just me . . and I sort of like the letter "k!" :)

@kerristephens Thank you Kerri!
@karenann Thank you Karenann! Yes, I do see that it could be a k as well. I will have to make sure to find a lovely one just for you!
@woot Thanks Davide!
@mrssmith Thank you Carla- I hated giving them out, but when I knew a student just didn't study- or refused to follow the directions, I didn't feel responsible for it.
@digitalrn Thanks Rick!
@httpgeffed Thanks Colleen- some tough ones are coming up soon, so I've started looking now!
@melorac Thank you Carole!!

Ooh neat F! The ribbon jazzes it up nicely too :) I hope I can find something this funky for my F shot :)

@allie912 @alia_801 Thank you Allison and Alia! This is part of my dresser which I inherited from my Grandmother's house. It's a taller one with 3 large drawers and 2 smaller ones. On top is a mirror which is held into place by the knob (one on each side) and scroll that you see here. The ribbon came with a bouquet which Jeff gave to me shortly after 9-11. We were thankful for our freedoms here and mourning the loss of so many innocent lives as that freedom was being threatened. It has remained there ever since the flowers faded and had to be tossed. The corner of the frame (which I almost moved out of the way for the shot, but then decided to leave it in anyway) is a picture of Jeff. Awwww...

More creativity in action. Hope you're making an album or scrapbook of these alphabet shots. Nice sentimental story (above).

Bev
excellent! you're doing so well on the challenge!

@cimes1 Thank you Carole- there were not too many people around here who were not affected by 9-11 in one way, shape or form. I haven't made an album, but it actually might be fun to make one for the grandchildren. Or maybe an alphabet poster.
@prttblues Thanks Bev. I'm totally having fun with it!

i used to write my F's this way. so i'm biased when i say, friggin' awesome!

@summerfield If I wasn't so lazy, I could have taken the whole f that looks like the f in a violin. But I didn't feel like clearing off the top of my dresser!
