Jeff left his Bible along with a bank deposit at church yesterday, so I ran up to Milford to retrieve them today. On my way home I took a detour along the McDade Trail- a walking/biking trail along the Delaware River. I wasn't the only one taking advantage of the beautiful day. I met "Lady" and her owner and a few others (who I am certain were wondering what I was taking pictures of!). I was heading back to my car and turned around and caught a glimpse of the trail. It looked so lovely with the light coming through the pines I took a shot, hoping the couple coming towards me wouldn't mind. No one complained!
It's funny how life's journey can be like that sometimes. You're walking along, enjoying the day and getting things done. You meet a few people and exchange pleasantries and continue on your way. But once in a while, you turn and look back and are surprised by the lovely things you see and remember. Light has filtered through your experiences and spilled on to your pathway. And it makes you smile.
Wow! This is a wonderful picture and more wonderful that your words just fit perfectly...and actually, this picture fits my day today more than the one that I took. I introduced Eudora Welty's A Worn Path today...and asked my students to write about a journey they are on or have been on. I like how the students approach it with the variety of different ways. I hope they like the story. We'll discuss it tomorrow. Perhaps, you know this short story?
@lisjam1 Thanks Lisabell- it was sooo pretty! I could have stayed there longer, but I had to get to the bank! So, it's on my list of places I shall return. @mrssmith Thanks Carla! That sounds like a short story I would enjoy. I am not familiar with it- at least I don't think I am. I will have to see if I can find it at the public library. I want to get back into reading now that the weather is nicer and I can sit on my garden swing! I've started a book called Treasure River by Wildwood Dean- I'd seen him interviewed on a cable channel show called Time Well Spent. It looked pretty interesting. So far it is. But I haven't been consistently sitting down to read it as I should. Somehow I keep getting distracted by pictures! @obiwan Thank you Jobi! I appreciate your comment!
@karenann Thank you Karenann! The light is what struck me as well. @anazad511 Thank you Ana! @rhubbard Thank you Rich! The color version is very nice (doesn't have people) but there was something about the black and white that really captured the light and shadow. @eudora Thank you Diane! (It's a lady!) @httpgeffed Thank you Colleen. It was quite peaceful even though it was very warm! @sarasdadandmom thanks Terry. This was the first time I was on this part of the trail. There are on and off places all up and down the river. I want to try a whole bunch of them out as the spring, summer and fall go on.
@beachradish Thank you Beachradish! I am drawn to the lighting as well. @filsie65 Thank you Phil. It was a great place to walk and take photos. @louisefrance Thank you Louise! I'm glad you enjoyed my musings! @sangwann Thank you Dione! I also took a color shot (had no people in it) that was just as pretty, but it had a totally different feeling to it. I liked this one a little more because of the way the light became the focus in the b/w. @kyren167 Thank you so much Karen! @woot Thanks Davide! It's basically sooc with a little sharpening that seems to get lost between the camera and computer. @cimes1 Thank you Carole! I did take a picture of the pathway in color as well- before the people showed up- and I liked that one too, but the b/w really brought out the light coming through the trees.
@prttblues Thanks Bev- I keep looking back at it because of the light. It really is quite beautiful! @juleswoome Thanks Julie! It is a great place for walking and biking. I'll be going back for sure!

@tklein Thank you Tina!
I don't know why it is, but I really love this shot!
@digitalrn Thank you Rick! Maybe that's it, the timeless feel it has. I just love this shot, but I don't know why!
