Received news from my sister this morning that my father is not doing well. I have to figure out a way to get to Vermont after we travel this week. Our plans to visit the grandchildren had to be altered on a separate issue, so we won't be going until later in the week which is a hard pill for this grandma to swallow. Life can smack you around like this at times. The picture and title says it all.
Ann, I am so sorry to hear the news of your dad and I pray it isn't serious. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this uncertain time. Blessings.
Your thoughts and prayers are so helpful and encouraging. After I posted this shot and started to make plans this afternoon, I knew I'd come here to find so many uplifting words and it was such a blessing to know that! After we come back from visiting with the family I will be home for a day and then head up north to see Dad. It won't be easy, but it's the right thing to do. My father has Parkinson's Disease and Pulmonary Fibrosis which now bringing on some signs of dementia. It's time to get things in order for him so that he'll be comfortable and hopefully be able to stay at home as long as possible. So thanks for your prayers, hugs and encouragement. It means so much to me!!
@dmariewms Thank you Marie! I really appreciate that! @digitalrn Thanks Rick. I'll be heading out on Thursday for the grandkids but there's lots to do before I go because I won't be back for long when I head up to see dad. @juleswoome Thank you Julie! I really appreciate your kind words.
Hi Ann! Just letting you know I prayed for you and your dad! It is such a hard thing but you are doing your best to make your dad comfortable! and being with him will cheer him and let him feel how much you love him!
So sorry, Ann! When my parents died (my mum 7 years before my dad) I was in the Scottish Highlands and North Wales respectively holidaying with my children in both occasion. The first time we all rushed back to Malta. The second I, very sadly, decided not too and am still sorry for that. Hope he'll be better when you visit.
@potsbypam@sangwann Thank you Pam! Thank you Dione! I so appreciate your prayers and kind thoughts. I was able to settle my travel plans yesterday and talked again to my sister this morning and I feel good about the plans. It's going to be a bit hectic for me, but I know both my sister and niece will appreciate me being there and that it will definitely cheer my father up. So thanks again! 365 is really the best community in the world!
I'm so sorry to hear about your dad. I hope your visit helps turn him around ... If there's anything I can do, just let me know. You'll be in my backyard... Seriously... If I can do anything to help. ... sending positive thoughts.
Not a happy time for you Ann .hope your worries will not be so obvious to your grandchildren if they are still very young. my prayers and thoughts are with you, your dad and all the family. mayby you'll have better news when you return from the visit with your dad. Hans's brother in law in Germany has Parkinsons and he's not doing to good either. mygirlfriend as well. she's in the early stages and keeps it under control with the meds.
@prttblues Thank you so much Bev! If we are that close, it would be fun to meet and find a place to go on a photo shoot together. I will be there for at least two weeks and I know that I'll probably need one day to just have some fun! @httpgeffed Thanks Colleen- I sure do appreciate the prayers! I know we will get through this, it's just going to be a sad time. @bruni Thank you Bruni! I am very thankful for your prayers. I was saying to my swimming friend today that Parkinson's is a lot like a cancer which slowly robs a person of their ability to live a normal life. Dad is in the hospital tonight to address his dehydration and get some food into him intravenously, but the doctor said his confusion is probably due to the Parkinson's. I don't know if they'll up his medication or not. But hopefully he'll be home when I go there next week. Wishing your family well and saying prayers for you too. (Oh and I have a feeling my grandchildren will bring both joy and sorrow into perspective.)
Thank you Nicole, Pam, MaryBeth, Kerri, Carla, Tina, Amy, Colleen, Lisa, Kimmi, Carole.
