Thank you so much everyone. I arrived in Vt. safely, after sitting in a traffic jam for 2 hrs at the outset. If I'd left at the time I wanted to, I might have ended up in the middle of the accident that caused it so, I guess your thoughts and prayers were answered! Dad is resting comfortably but very weak and frail. As much as we would love to see him bounce back and be able to go home, it doesn't look like that may happen. Thankfully he is in a very nice place and getting good care, so it's easier to face that this may be a long term stay.
