Psalm 121 by olivetreeann

Psalm 121

I lift up my eyes to the mountains;
From whence shall my help come?
My help comes from the Lord,
Who made heaven and earth.
He will not allow your foot to slip;
He who keeps you will not slumber.
Behold, He who keeps Israel
Will not slumber nor sleep.

The Lord is your keeper;
The Lord is your shade on your right hand.
The sun will not smite you by day,
Nor the moon by night.
The Lord will protect you from evil;
He will keep your soul.
The Lord will guard your going out and your coming in
From this time forth and forever.

Some of the beautiful scenery I enjoyed driving to and from the nursing home. You can see why Vermont is appropriately named the "Green Mountain State". This was one of the Scriptures we shared at Dad's memorial service and it always reminds me of the first time I went "up to Jerusalem". You can't help but think of this psalm as you wind your way through the Judean hills towards the beautiful city. And it was the same way as we drove over the mountains those final days of Dad's earthly life (even his ICU room looked out over these beautiful mountains!). God's presence was everywhere in His beautiful creation helping us to realize He was there in the midst of everything.
Please accept my sympathy on the loss of your Father.
The Keeper of us all is always on watch, never asleep. Thank God from whom all blessings flow.

I find this psalm comes to mind often, I'm so glad it gave you strength and you knew God's presence with you at that time. Wonderful landscape too.

I love this landscape shot but more than that I love the words. I have been considering going to Jerusalemm and Palestine for quite some time. Hope to go there one day.

Somehow I missed this one.....It fits beautifully with the Bible verse and the photo gives me comfort and peace.

@nicolecampbell Thank you Nicole- it would be quite different than what you're used to, but I think you would truly enjoy it there. The girls would particularly enjoy all the places you can go to ride horses!
@sangwann Thanks Dione. You will truly enjoy Israel if you go. In spite of what the media broadcasts it is extremely safe. I encourage you to discover the land where Abraham, David and Jesus walked!
@cimes1 Thank you Carole! Oh, that's easy to do when I've been posting several a day!

Bev
You certainly captured the essence of my state in this shot. Absolutely breathtaking picture! It almost looks like a preset background that comes with a new computer. Another photo job well done!

@prttblues Thanks Bev. The mountains were just spectacular that week. And the fields were awash with the gold of dandelions which you can't really see in this shot, only a hint. I know the Fall is beautiful there, but I think I actually like Spring/early Summer best in Vermont.
