Taps by olivetreeann

Taps

One final tribute to Dad. Since he was a WWII vet, we were able to have a military burial for him. I was so struck by this image as we made our way to the grave site. And the trumpeter played a beautiful rendition of Taps for us. Such an honorable good-bye!

That's it- I promise I'm moving on to new sights and images tomorrow as the 5 Weeks in May Challenge moves on to a new topic. Well, I might post one more shot of yesterday's waterfall!
wonderful image for the event

Great shot and memory. It has been 11 years today since I lost my Dad, and I can promise you that this will not be your final tribute. Every thing you do in life you do in part because of him. Your actions are your tributes.

I love this tribute, Ann. It's a gorgeous pov. It's the ceremony that I love .. do you know that alot of military funerals just play a tape recording now? So this is special ... VERY special.

Stunning, and moving. I've only been to one military funeral and I must say, it was heart wrenching

@sarasdadandmom Thank you Terry!
@dmariewms Thanks Marie (yes the final tribute for now...)
@karenann Thank you Karenann- that's terrible! The National Guard Honor Guard came and performed the trumpet call and flag ceremony. We really appreciated how much respect they showed our father.
@digitalrn Thank you Rick. Yes, it was extremely moving especially when the soldier handed me the flag.

This photo speaks volumes. I have a lot of respect for those who serve in the military. Your father was a hero. You must be so proud. He has a great daughter and I bet he's proud, too. Excellent photo.

@sangwann Thank you Dione! I wanted to take more, mostly for my memories, but thought it to be inappropriate. However, this one does all I need to remind me of that beautiful service.
@cimes1 Thank you Carole! It's no trouble- I'm slowly getting caught up to everyone's photos. Now I know why it's dangerous to have so many followers/followees and get behind a by a week! Jeff says I'm living on the computer!
@prttblues Thank you very much Bev! You are very kind to say that!

@filsie65 Thank you Phil. He didn't leave any "instructions" so to speak, but I know he would have been pleased with everything we did to honor and celebrate his life.
