One final tribute to Dad. Since he was a WWII vet, we were able to have a military burial for him. I was so struck by this image as we made our way to the grave site. And the trumpeter played a beautiful rendition of Taps for us. Such an honorable good-bye!
That's it- I promise I'm moving on to new sights and images tomorrow as the 5 Weeks in May Challenge moves on to a new topic. Well, I might post one more shot of yesterday's waterfall!
@woot thank you Davide! @vposey thank you Vickie! @kerristephens thank you Kerri! @httpgeffed thank you Colleen! @nicolecampbell thank you Nicole- I am doing well all things considered. It is hard to say good-bye but my faith and all the wonderful support from 365 and friends here is really carrying me through. Thank you so much! @kimmistephens thank you Kimmi! @rhubbard thank you Rich!
Thank you again to everyone. I probably sound like a broken record by now, but your support and kind words have been such a blessing!
Great shot and memory. It has been 11 years today since I lost my Dad, and I can promise you that this will not be your final tribute. Every thing you do in life you do in part because of him. Your actions are your tributes.
I love this tribute, Ann. It's a gorgeous pov. It's the ceremony that I love .. do you know that alot of military funerals just play a tape recording now? So this is special ... VERY special.
@sarasdadandmom Thank you Terry! @dmariewms Thanks Marie (yes the final tribute for now...) @karenann Thank you Karenann- that's terrible! The National Guard Honor Guard came and performed the trumpet call and flag ceremony. We really appreciated how much respect they showed our father. @digitalrn Thank you Rick. Yes, it was extremely moving especially when the soldier handed me the flag.
Lovely photo, Ann. That must have been an emotional but inspirational service. I would be in tears moved by the experience. BTW, thank you for viewing all my recent photos....read all your comments this morning & you're very kind.
This photo speaks volumes. I have a lot of respect for those who serve in the military. Your father was a hero. You must be so proud. He has a great daughter and I bet he's proud, too. Excellent photo.
@sangwann Thank you Dione! I wanted to take more, mostly for my memories, but thought it to be inappropriate. However, this one does all I need to remind me of that beautiful service. @cimes1 Thank you Carole! It's no trouble- I'm slowly getting caught up to everyone's photos. Now I know why it's dangerous to have so many followers/followees and get behind a by a week! Jeff says I'm living on the computer! @prttblues Thank you very much Bev! You are very kind to say that!
@salza Thank you Sally. I am blessed- many many happy memories to hold on to in this family! @eudora Thank you Diane- it's beautiful isn't it? Yes, a nice one for Memorial Day.
What a special memory to add to a day like that. This is such a moving photo. I'm glad the day went well for you all and am sure your father would be touched too.
@filsie65 Thank you Phil. He didn't leave any "instructions" so to speak, but I know he would have been pleased with everything we did to honor and celebrate his life.
