I really do try to get two totally random entries when I decide to do the album challenge, but it always seems I land on compatible words!
The Artist name, Nansen's Fram Expedition, was an attempt by Norwegian explorer Fridtjot Nansen to reach the geographical North Pole by harnessing the east-west current of the Arctic Ocean. Nansen's ship "Fram" was frozen into an ice pack in the eastern Arctic Ocean and allowed to drift westward for 3 years until it emerged unscathed in the North Atlantic Ocean. Meanwhile, Nansen and a companion attempted to reach the pole by dogsled but were unsuccessful. Nansen continued to dedicate his studies in the area of oceanography and is credited for proving that there are no significant land masses between the Eurasian continents and the North Pole.
The album title is taken from the advertising campaign for the movie "Down Periscope" which stars Kelsey Grammar as the captain of a rust bucket submarine called the USS Stingray. Rob Schneider plays his uptight executive officer and Lauren Holly plays the role of the Navy's first female submarine crew member. The ad campaign read: A rusty sub, a rebel commander, a renegade crew. When destiny called, they should have hung up. The comedy was released in 1996. I'm not going for any prizes on this one, but that ad line couldn't have been more perfect!
it could be a band's album cover, why not? although i must say, i haven't been to a record store in ages and i don't know what kind of album covers are the trend these days. so to me, this is a winner!
@mrssmith Thanks Carla! Yes, I was really surprised to see this quote come up as the random quote after an explorer turned out to be the band name! @summerfield Thanks Vikki! Even CD's are becoming obsolete with iPods and such. Who would have thought that so many years after my college days, I'd be telling my grandchildren "we used to have phones stuck on the wall and things called albums!" @httpgeffed Thanks Colleen! This was the 6th try!
@groovygirlrn Thanks Sheri! @automaticslim Thanks Automatic! I processed this in iPiccy and I think the font was called Bleeding Cowboys or maybe Blazing Cowboys- something like that.
