Somewhere in the recent past (I forget the date!) I took part in the Artist's Challenge and attempted copying two of the artist's paintings on my kitchen counter. I posted one for the challenge but held off putting this one up when I realized I'd left out an apple from the composition. Now that the challenge is over, I thought I'd post it anyway- just because I like it!
The artist is Tamara de Lempicka and the original painting was called Still Life with Apples and Lemons painted in 1946. If you'd like to see the original, this should get you there: http://www.tamara-de-lempicka.org/Still-Life-with-Apples-and-Lemons.html I don't know if that's the exact address because part of it is left off of my print out. Lempicka was a Polish painter known for her art deco style. Her style became known as "soft cubism" which is why many of you likened her to Cezanne. There are some similarities in their style- but Lempicka's still-life paintings were more "realistic" shall we say than Cezanne's- although his were hardly abstract!
@beachradish Thanks Beachradish! I actually liked the colors of this one a bit more than the other, but I wanted it to be exactly the same as her painting and I didn't realize I'd left out an apple until I uploaded it. By then I'd put everything away and didn't feel like pulling it all out again. I was happy with the other one, so I posted that and let it go. @httpgeffed Thanks Colleen! @karenann Thanks Karenann! I really like the colors on this one- very cheery.

Thank you Kimmi, Dione, Mary, Vickey and Ana! I'm so glad you like this. The more I look at it the more the richness of the colors surprise me! I so appreciate all your comments!
@lyno Thanks Lyn! The picture that I did post for the challenge was almost exactly like the painting and I was honored that Jeff Walker chose it as one of the top 5! It was the better of the two, but I still liked this one and I'm glad I posted it too!
@kandernob Thanks Karen! I find when I want to process a photo to look "artistic" rather than "photographic" that BeFunky (which is free!) has some great effects to work with.
ah, yes, the lempicka challenge. that was a good challenge and artist choice. i like this as this is very nice, but i like the "key" photograph best, of all the entries. that was awesome!
@summerfield Thanks Vikki. Yes the key shot was the better of the two and that's why this one wasn't entered. But I liked it enough to post it on an off day just 'cause.
