Tag Challenge 68

My words for this tag challenge were statue and shadow. Jeff and I are disagreeing as to whether or not this 5 foot cross in front of our church can be considered a statue. Perhaps not, but it is the only thing I was able to get a shadow of since it's been cloudy and overcast every day since! I ended up inverting the picture and cross processing it in order to declutter the background. If it does not meet the challenge rules, I'm fine with that- it was fun to do anyway!
And it turned out well to boot!

@dakotaburns Thanks Donald! It should be appearing right side up soon- just flipped it in Picmonkey.

Fantastic shot and idea to make it so much more interesting!

@maggiemae Thank you Maggie! I don't know if they have to be sooc in the tag challenge challenge. But the picture really didn't do the shadow justice that way, so I just HAD to play with it!!

Well perhaps more an ornamental fixture

An interesting photo in any case - neat perspective.

Nice shot! I think if it's big enough it can be considered a statue. I love your choice of processing to give it a new look. Well done, Ann! :)

interesting perspective on this cross!

@digitalrn Thanks Rick- it's outside on the church lawn and free-standing so it's not quite ornamental although it does have some ornamentation on it!
@taffy Thank you Taffy!
@prttblues Thank you Bev! You're so encouraging!
@eniaral Thanks Laraine! I actually have some better shots of it, but they weren't taken in the time frame for the challenge. But I kind of like how it came out.

of course it is a statue! i love inverting a photo and cross processing it, then put it back on positive and you get an awesome photo. this turned out really great; the colours are really nice.

@summerfield Thanks Vikki! I did try inverting the inversion, but too much of the clutter came back into the background. So it remains as you see it here.

This is a beauty! Love your composition and processing. Very cool shot.

Brilliant composition and capture! Looks like it should be a book or CD cover :)

Well done. great composition and editing.

Very interesting "I just can't help staring" type photo. I love what you've done. Pooh on them if it doesn't qualify for the challenge :-))) I would vote for this one. Great artsy shadows.

@pflaume Thanks Lisa!
@alia_801 Thanks Alia!
@sangwann Thanks Dione!
@cimes1 Thanks Carole! I didn't go back to check the "rules" but it doesn't really matter to me this time around. I just had fun fixing the picture up anyway. I'm so swamped with writing and speaking commitments right now, that I'm surprised I'm keeping up with 365! So, don't be angry with the Challenge Master if it's not chosen! (o:

Wonderful composition and processing. I am not certain if a cross qualifies as a statue. I never thought about that before.

I think it's brilliant!!

Very striking, and the composition is excellent. I very much doubt anyone will object to you defining this as a statue.

@daisy @filsie65 @automaticslim
Thank you Kathryn, Phil, and Andy! I guess it didn't make the vote off but that's ok. I had some fun with it no matter what.

Ann, this is wonderful. I like your focus and composition.

@nicolecampbell Thanks Nicole! It improved when I processed it. I have taken better pictures of it before, but didn't have to worry about the shadow in those!
