Moon Shots for Bev by olivetreeann

Moon Shots for Bev

Well Bev, I did try your method and here are the best results of the 20 or so I took. This little point and shoot does very well with macro, but it has a tough time with zooming in for detail. I even used my mini-tripod and the timed shot to reduce blur, but as you can see the middle picture is the only one that came out in focus- and only by a hair! But it was fun to give it another try. One interesting thing with these shots is how the flash turned the moon yellow. It was a brilliant white last night!
I would love a great moon shot in my album, I really like the middle moon. Sounds like you had fun with this shot.

At least you tried. My Kodak went down to 64 ISO, has 12 megapixel, and 5x digital zoom (200mm). It also has a lower aperture setting and that isn't adjustable. Is yours? It's weird how the flash turned it yellow for you! The difference between cameras is really odd. I love that you tried and love the results that you got! I'm going to check out your online manual and see what I can find on your camera and see if I can help you figure it out! Great try, Ann! I like the middle shot with the tree branches in front of it. I think that helped it focus a bit more.

Cool

moon shots are on the back burner for me right now - the middle one you took is my favorite ~

I agree -- middle shot 'wins'. I wonder if the focus on the branches is what makes the main difference. Plus, it adds interest to the shot.

Yes, middle shot here too!

Great try. I like the middle shot too. I agree, the branches give it depth.

Makes for a nice abstract. I like the middle shot best for the branches. I like shooting the moon better during the daytime with my camera.

I like the three moons--looks like something from a science fiction movie. I like the branches in the middle one.

You folks are the BEST!! Really! None of these shots is really all that good- the first one is down right terrible! lol But I had a feeling they would not turn out. It's a little camera and it just can't do big shots. It can do macro! I haven't explored all the preset functions, but I prefer manual anyway. I really should experiment with it more, but I've come to appreciate it for what it can do, and eventually I will buy a "big girl" camera. But for now, I try to stay focused on what this little p&s can do, rather than what it can't.

@prttblues The front of the camera reads: Canon Powershot A560, 4X optical zoom and 7.1 megapixels.

A nice collection Ann

@digitalrn Oh, thank you Rick! They're not really that good, but I wanted Bev to see what my camera was capable of.

I need moon remediation photography help. I can't take a moon picture for anything. I think you were quite successful.

Beautiful captures of the moon.

@mrssmith203 Thanks Carla- that's kind of you to say, but if you saw Bev's shot, you'd see it's an epic fail! I had a feeling it would not work, but I still wanted to give it a try just in case I was wrong. I must say though, I like the way the last one looks like Saturn (without the ring) in a telescope.
@sangwann Thank you Dione! You are so nice to say that- they could use a lot of improvement!
