Majorcan Sugar Bowl by olivetreeann

Majorcan Sugar Bowl

My Grandmother Hamilton loved to collect things- especially ceramics. She had a small collection of Majorcan pottery that Dad received when she passed away. The colors on this sugar bowl really reminded me of Fall and it seemed an appropriate shot to sum up my week of washing, polishing and scrubbing the dust and dirt of the years away on the things I brought home while starring out my kitchen window and watching the leaves come down.

Majorcan pottery was first attributed to a style of pottery made on the island of Majorca just off the coast of Spain. It is believed the technique of glazing these pieces with metallic glazes was introduced by the Arabs. Also known as Majolica, this popular pottery is best known for it's bright and bold colors and stylized decorative designs.

Playing catch-up with my posts. For some reason my laptop decided not to read my camera cards so I finally got out and purchased a USB cable for my Canon. No need to post a comment on every shot- I just appreciate you taking time to look!
