@kerristephens Thank you Kerri! @twr Thank you Timothy! @salza Thank you Sally! I believe I have noticed more shadows and such than ever before thanks to 365. @digitalrn Thanks Rick! It's Siberian Larch.
@eudora Thanks Diane! It's actually a new floor we just put down in May. It's called Siberian Larch. It's almost as hard as oak, but has that variegated coloring and wider planks. Instead of staining it, we used Tung Oil. That;s probably what gives you the impression that it's old.
@olivetreeann Well, I remember when you put down new floors, but this looks so classic I thought maybe I'd remembered wrong, and you had refinished old ones. The wood has beautiful grain and character. Hope I didn't offend you--I love old wood, so that was a compliment! I used to refinish antiques.
@eudora Thanks Diane! Oh no, I was not offended at all. I love old things too- old floors, old furniture, etc.! I was really hoping that the whole floor would be like the darker plank you see here, but it's more variegated. That's ok though. The knots in the flooring really add a special look to it all. So, not to worry. We view so many photos on here and really, are we expected to remember what's going on in everyone's life? No- so it didn't bother me at all- actually it was the furthest thing from my mind.
