On Board the Queen Elizabeth by olivetreeann

On Board the Queen Elizabeth

My mother took a trip aboard the Queen Elizabeth in the summer of 1950. I've just started scanning some of her pictures into the computer so that my sisters and I can all have a copy of them. This shot was taken by the ship's photographer (I left the printing on purpose). My mother is in the middle of that stylish trio with their sunglasses at the railing.
Wonderful shot

Thank you Kerri, Yao, Lisa, Nicole and Daisy! Yes, a fun memento to be sure. It looks like her trip to Europe lasted about a month including sailing to and from NYC harbor.

Such a nice treasure. your mom looks very fashionable there. the picture reminds me of when I was standing at the railing waving good bye to my parents. the "Bremen" took me to the United States. I immigrated in June of 1955.

@cimes1 It's a fun one of her. I wish she had told me more about her trip there. I think it would have inspired me.

She looks like she was a very comfortable traveler and at ease in her surroundings.

@taffy Thank you Taffy! She was a bit of an adventurer- but I think most of all she just liked people and enjoyed life.

Awesome memento to have of your mom. I love the "dress code" very stylish. A skirt doesn't have to be a hindrance !

@gratefulness Thanks Sandi!
@summerfield Thanks Vikki! I'm not sure the Queen is still afloat, but the only thing I could match my mother on is the sunglasses! She was much more petite than me- and much more slender even in my thinner days!
@traceyhn Thank you Tracey! Yes- I actually think the styles were much more flattering then- less is more, or in this case more is less!
