NYC August 21, 1950

One more shot of mom aboard the Queen Elizabeth on the day of her return from a trip to Europe. According to her scrapbook she left NY on July 1st and returned August 21st. From her travel shots, it looks like it was a wonderful trip!

I am at the table with hubby with his mom ( today is her 81st birthday) and she was talking about HER trip to Europe with her parents and sister on the QE2. So this was fun to see! Cool pic

Your mom is beautiful and looks so relaxed after such a long trip. It's such an indication of how times have changed--no one takes trips that long any more, but my aunt (who was a teacher) and grandmother did every summer.

@olivetreeann A funny thing happened when scanning some of my family's old photos: I got new insights into the people in the photos and the people who shot them. I felt I knew my aunt better after scanning some of her travel slides; her travel journals were very practical (how much gas cost, etc) but the photos showed what moved her.
