Dogwood Blossoms on the Water by olivetreeann

Dogwood Blossoms on the Water

Yes, that bright blue really is water! It's a reflecting pool that has a bright blue basin. I couldn't tell if someone had purposely put these Dogwood blossoms there or not, but they really stood out against that blue. I added a swirly vignette for a little extra effect.
This is really artistic - I thought it was your idea with putting the flowers in the water. Perhaps there is going to be a christening!

@maggiemae Thanks Maggie! Highly unlikely for this place. It's actually a really interesting thing. Pinchot's wife Cornelia was quite the entertainer. She designed "The Finger Pool" to be a watery table where guests could sit around in the heat of the summer under the shade of a Wysteria arbor (see the post on the 15th) while fresh fruit, cheese and crackers, and other Pennsylvania fare floated across the water so the guests could casually dine from them and enjoy leisurely conversation. It was quite the innovation!

@aat3877 Thank you Ann!

@olivetreeann Wow - thats a tricky way to serve food! You wouldn't want anyone drinking too much wine in this case!

the blue is quite attractive especially with the dogwood flowers in them. this has an abstract-ish look with the addition of the swirly vintage. aces!

love the layery look to this, and whatever all those colors are in the blue of the basin. Just lovley. But the story isalso intriguing!!! I guess kids couldn't have been invited as I can see one trying to speed up a container of crackers, creating a wake, moistening the cheese and thus engendering a huge fuss.

@rangerxenos Thank you Dawn!
@birdy Thank you Lois!
@maggiemae Actually it's pretty cool- I have been to Grey Towers before and posted shots. I think I did post the "full length" version. I'll have to check that... http://365project.org/olivetreeann/themes-and-comp/2013-05-14
The top picture on the left gives you a better idea of how it is more table height and size. The bowl on the bottom is about the size of what would be floating around the pool. The right side shows you the arbor overhead and its reflection in the pool.
@summerfield Thank you Vikki! Now I'm wishing I submitted this version to the Scavenger Hunt instead of the "plain" one.
@aikimomm Thank you Phoebe!
@frankhymus Thank you Frank! Yes, it is definitely NOT a subtle color!
@creativeaddict Thank you Laur!
@salza Thank you Sally!
@sarah19 Thank you Sarah!
@pammerritt Thank you Pam! I submitted a "plain" version to the Scavenger Hunt and now I wish I'd submitted this one!
@francoise Thank you Francoise! Yes, I'm sure the children were occupied elsewhere! More likely they would try to climb in for a swim!! I think what you see as layering is the reflection of the Wisteria arbor (dark lines) and the Wisteria (dark and light wiggles) overhead. The non-reflective shot is posted in the main album as 7-SOOC.
@pistache Thanks Clare!
@allie912 Thanks Allison! That's a high compliment as he is a favorite artist of mine!

And a special thank you to those who fav'd it! You know who you are!!
