I had an opportunity to watch a sheep-shearing at Aspen Ridge Farm in Oxford, NJ today. It was really interesting! Aspen Ridge raises Icelandic Sheep because their wool is quite lovely and can range from the browns you see here to black to a lovely soft gray. The herd consists of about 20 sheep and it took most of the morning to shear them but I was surprised at how quickly a sheep could be shorn once subdued. This sheep is waiting his turn, but as you can see, he's not so sure about this whole process! More pictures to follow!
beautiful light on such a lovely coloured coat. Must be quite difficult to shear such a curly coat. Shearers here can shear up to 200 sheep a day! a back breaking job.
An excellent image of him. I once had a coat made from Icelandic well and had no idea that Brown was one of the natural colors! I like the light on his eye and the details you have captured!
Thank you so much for your views, comments and favs! I'm particularly proud of this one as I had horrible lighting conditions to work with, but was able to get the right settings so that the shot came out.
