Macro Stamps

I had an envelope with some really old stamps on it. I'm not sure where it came from and I don't even remember the last time we had 3 cent stamps here in the USA but this one was a nice combination of the painting Whistler's Mother and a moment of thanks for Moms.

I recall four cent stamps for post cards, while letters were five. But I certainly do not remember three cents. Hard to imagine.

I remember three cent stamps in the 50s and how outraged people wear when they went up to four or five cents. I like this photo. It’s a nice walk down memory lane for me

Thanks also for those who had some insight on the history of it. I think I remember 10 cent stamps-possibly five but that's a LONG time ago now!!

that's the whistler guy's mother! the stamp challenge actually passed me by. well, so many things had passed by me without me realizing it these days. we still have 3-cent stamps but they are used to augment insufficient postage.

Thank you Vikki! Yes, Whistler's Mother replicated by some lithographer- not the actual painting. There are a lot of things that are blurring together these days!
