2016 01 01 The Pump Room

We went for our New Year\s Day walk to Sywell Country Park. Of course I took my new fisheye lens and got lots of shots with Finlay in the foreground with a distorted world around him. Great fun!! This was my favourite shot of the day. I think it's the pump room to control the water level (I may be wrong but what else would this be for?)

My Demo of the Nik software expired so I have bought the whole suite. So much there which should keep me busy for quite some time!!

Many thanks for your good wishes for 2016 you are such lovely people and it has been a pleasure to travel this journey with you!!

As luck would have it the new theme for our mentoring group is Wide angle or fisheye. What a great opportunity to use my new lens!!

What a wonderful surprise to see this on the PP this morning! Thanks so much for your great comments and Favs!
Fabulous start!!

That is a beautifully ornate gate for a pump room. Love the effect of the fisheye :)

@jgpittenger forgot to tag you all with my shot.
@taffy @888rachel @newbank @golftragic
I had fun with the fisheye lens today and took loads of shots which were complete rubbish!! LOL! This lens will take some learning to get the best from it!!

Super shot, composition, depth

@pamknowler I thought you'd enjoy the lens -- and it's fun to see what you've done with it outside an urban setting. You've already picked up on how important it is to be dead center to what you are planning to shoot and distort. And how critical some clear lines are to the composition. Terrific!

@taffy As I don't live in an urban area I had to try to find things to shoot which was quite hard in a country park!! Of course I saw so much wildlife which would have been wonderful with my 100-400mm lens. While doing this challenge I am only taking the fisheye out with me so I am not tempted to change lenses.

@pamknowler You're doing exactly as I did -- only carried the one lens and just kept my eye out for structured things. Have fun!

Excellent Pam... I must give my fisheye another outing. Love your processing here... Fav for that!

This is an excellent shot Pam, and such a good subject. I like how you have centred it too. My only niggle is that I would have liked to see the bottom of the gate, but it's still a fav!

FANtastic pov and love that you have made something that is probably a bit dull look beautiful. Super FAV
January 2nd, 2016
You did a good job, lining up this shot, where the rigors of the lens demand it. Lovely symmetry... you are just going to LOVE this lens in Chicago. :)

I like this shot very much and can only echo @888rachel. You've tickled my curiosity about the purpose of the little building though. I've seen similar small towers at a nearby reservoir and often wondered what their purpose was.
January 2nd, 2016
@888rachel thanks Rachel I know what you mean about the gate. I was so intent on not getting my feet in the shot that I lifted the camera too far! There is a lot to look at and check with this lens before I click the shutter! Lol!

Lovely image, I like the lines and b&w conversion.
