This great big fork has been at this fork in the road for a couple of years. Apparently its original installation was an act of guerilla art. It was subsequently removed, since it was illegally placed.
THEN it was replaced when proper permits were obtained.
This weekend it was the sight of a canned food drive, "Put the Fork in Hunger."
I came by and dropped off some cans of food and of course I had to take a few photos. You can see a couple of the volunteers just to the left of the tines.
@grammyn No, it's not on a hill. It is just a raised median area where the road forks. From what I've gathered, the locals really liked the Big Fork (even when it was illegal) because it's so darned cool. But there were liability issues because it was on city property etc. Now it is all legal and above board and they've even done some nice landscaping around it.
I didn't know it was there for the longest time. It is actually fairly hidden and unless you drive that route as part of your commute, you're likely to miss it entirely.
