Sowerby Bridge Mill by peadar

Sowerby Bridge Mill

Sowerby Bridge, Calderdale, West Yorkshire. This is the River Calder, and you can see one of the many riverside mill buildings here.

Processed in line with other Yorkshire shots in the series - colour desaturated, warm white balance, higher contrast, shadows tamed a little.

Many thanks for all of your recent comments, very much appreciated.
Very nice old-looking picture. fav

I just love the images you show from this area - with that type of processing. They would make a fabulous series of shots to illustrate that area. :)

@robz Thank you Rob. I've actually had one printed large and framed, donated to the hospital where I'm working at the moment. It's been received very well, I might do a few others for them!

Super in these sepia tones, a classic shot.

A beautifully processed shot. Although I know quite a lot of Calderdale, I've never explored Sowerby Bridge. I must put that right when the current emergency has passed.

@fishers Ian, yes it's an interesting place, you get a real sense of the industrial and canal history.

@peadar Somewhere amongst my walking guides is a town trail booklet on Sowerby Bridge, which is one of a series on Calderdale towns. I've used the ones on Heptonstall, Hebden Bridge and Halifax and they are full of interesting detail. The Sowerby Bridge one is available online - https://www.calderdale.gov.uk/wtw/search/controlservlet?PageId=Detail&DocId=101748
