Also in Bexley Village, south-east London, this old mill was rebuilt after a fire in 1966; the original (of which much remained) dates back to (probably) 1779, and there are records of a mill on the site dating back to Saxon times.
In the latter part of the 20th century it hosted a succession of ultimately doomed restaurant ventures until acquired by a property developer and converted (very successfully, I think) into flats and apartments. It commands a striking position close by the centre of the village, and a short distance from St Mary-the-Virgin church.
Recycling at it's very best - I think it's so good to see historic buildings still being used - even if it's not how it was originally used. They are still alive. The differences in textures seem to work very well too :)
