One for the Extras album: London Bridge station, which serves lines to the south and south-east of London, is one of the key hub stations for commuters and visitors alike. It has undergone a much needed multi-billion £ makeover over the past five years, and in the process the architects and planners have been revealing to a modern customer many of the Victorian design features of the original stations that were built here. These vaulted ceilings now accommodate retail outlets and many pass through here oblivious to their surroundings. For me it is difficult not to look up, and admire the engineering of the past.
A wonderful capture. I like to incorporate the new into old architecture. I am aware that if it was not for this relationship, the old one would be destroyed forever.
Like you, I am thrilled when I see history, and you captured it perfectly
