Zoe and I were going to use this track as a shortcut for our walk. She wanted to keep going - I chickened out! This was one BIG snake skin. There were 3 sections visible and they would have measured about 4ft altogether - but the front section with the head must have been in under the shrubs as I couldn't see it. We have mainly Red Bellied Black snakes which are quite well mannered. However, my husband saw a very big Brown snake a few months ago - and they can be very badly mannered! So we backed off....
Oh, my! Rob! I KNOW I would have backed off for sure. That is some impressive snake skin! The angle in which you caught it is particularly ominous -- it looks like it's leading right into the shadow (you?) and I thought it was a real snake and not just its skin at first!
@jyokota Hi Junko - I must say I thought it was alive too at first. It was quite hard to get a good photo of it ( I didn't want to get too close in case the former owner was nearby!) I'm pleased to hear you say it gave you a good impression of what it was like. Thanks so much for your comment.
@joannakate Hi Joanna -you are so right! They can be just tucked in bushes beside you and you can't see them. Luckily they generally notice you and leave... Cheers Rob
@granagringa It's normally OK - we keep mown tracks and you can see them and they can see you. This wasn't a normal track - bit rough and ready!! They are quite beautiful. :)
