Ireland – fifth day of our holiday (22th July, 2019).
You can spend a whole day going round the grounds that surround Muckross House. These are just four of the many shots I took there.
In 1932 Muckross House and its 11,000 acre estate were presented to the Irish nation and became the first National Park in the Republic of Ireland. It formed the basis of present-day Killarney National Park. In later years the park was substantially expanded by the acquisition of land from the former Earl of Kenmare's estate.
Many thanks for your views, comments and fav's. They are very much appreciated.
It's a beautiful collage Dione - and your photos in it have given us a wonderful glimpse of the estate. It must have an interesting history to have been gifted to the nation.
