It was birthday breakfast weekend - my birthday last week and Allan's tomorrow- so we went to our favourite breakfasting place about 8 miles away.....in the middle of the countryside, surrounded by fields and woods.....it's such a lovely setting.
And I spent some money I'd got for my birthday on these rather lovely little dishes. They are much smaller than they look here and I loved the size as I don't really cope with large portions of dessert any more.......and oatcakes and cheese will be just right on the little plates. They are made in Denmark but actually match some lovely mugs we bought on the Isle of Arran (Scotland) a couple of years ago!
Three good things
1. Nice to have fun activities on grey Scottish January mornings!
2. A leisurely shopping time in Aberdeen.
3. Train journeys.....so much more efficient than the bus.....in this part of the world at least. But we were pretty surprised to find it snowing heavily for the five-mile drive home from the station. A BMW in front of us was slithering all over the road on an uphill stretch......scary to watch!!
