I was in Girl Scouts for one year, in Kindergarten, as a Brownie. I don't know why I didn't continue (I'd have to ask my mom) but when my oldest wanted to become a Girl Scout I was a bit skeptical. However, she has stuck with it, and this is her fourth year - her second as a Junior Girl Scout.
As I went to sew a new Journey award and several fun badges to her vest (in preparation for door to door cookie sales!) I was struck by how many fun and educational things she's done as a Girl Scout, thanks to her fabulous troop leaders. And on top of that, she's made several good friends separate from her classmates - and in some cases even her school - and that can only be a good thing heading into the middle school fray!
I'm experiencing some serious guilt right now over the three vests I need to sew patches on! I'm so glad your daughter is enjoying Girl Scouts; we have lots of fun with it here.
@jewelofdenial Oof - three vests?? I think I'd give up and use that badge magic stuff. :) I got tired of trying to iron them on and have them stick, and switched to using clear thread in my sewing machine!
@sarahsthreads Two Brownies and a Junior, yes. I have a love/hate relationship with Badge Magic. It either works fantastically well, or not at all...and patches falling off bother my girls much more than patches not put on.
Aw..... yes.... nice shot, and I remember those days...... I was a girl scout many decades ago. My daughter was too,and I have her sash with all the badges she earned..... everyone possible at that time. The sash was loaded.
