Rose of Sharon Seed Pod

And God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit. You shall have them for food. ~ Genesis 1:29
I was outside with my granddaughter and I spotted these dried out seed pods. Grabbed this using my 20mm extension tube.
Love photographing these. Such wonderful curves and shaoes.loveky! Fav

Fav! I love the dof and the composition and the negative space. I think you should put some kind of verse with this. Could match anything...could be uplifting, or thought provoking or many things! Possibilities are endless.

This is lovely! I like the way you used DoF to create such interesting textures and layers in this.

Excellent detail you captured here.

I think of seed heads as the flowers of winter. They really are interesting even if they lack the rich colours of spring and summer flowers.

Pretty focus and dof!

@kerristephens - Thank you Kerri for your beautiful comment!

@taffy - Thank you so much Taffy for your lovely comment and analysis!

@sassik - Thank you very much Sassik for your lovely comment!

@denisedaly - Thank you for your very kind comment Denise!

@gardencat - They do make you think of a dried flower. It's also fun to watch the birds searching them looking for seeds during the winter months.

@kwind - Thank you very much Kim! I had hoped for a little more to be in focus, particularly the front two cells. But I was hand holding and it was cloudy so I had to use a faster shutter speed than I would have liked to.

@lynnb - Thank you very much Lynn for your wonderful comment and inquiry! They are doing better thank you! My daughter is having more "good" days. But as we approach the anniversary we know that will be hard for her. Our granddaughter mentions her Dad every now and then, but she seems to be moving forward. My son-in-law was an ardent hunter. He had two deer heads and a stuffed duck on one of their walls. My granddaughter asked my daughter when she was going to take them down? She is doing remarkably well! Thank for asking!!

@monkeykid - Thank you so much Therese for your beautiful comment!

@kwind - What I intended to say was a faster shutter speed and a wider aperture, which of course decreased the dof. But as I look at it more, it is growing on me!

@skipt07 I like it just the way it is!
