well, there goes june. we're half done with the year. summer is in full swing as the days start to get shorter.
this challenge or series does not really end here. there are only very few places in the city where you can't see the CN tower. as the lower photo indicates, its sight is vast and wide (this is just the western view that is seen in this photograph, mind you). last year while having lunch with some visiting friends, we could see the mist of the niagara falls rising in the horizon 127 kilometres away because it was a pleasantly clear day that time. so that i am warning you, the CN tower will pop up in any of my postings at any time.
i am posting here four photos of the tower's main pod showing the light's progression. in the right-most photograph, the lights you see are coming from the 360 degrees restaurant. the bottom photograph was taken at almost ten in the evening from the tower's skypod, more than 1,400 ft. up. on very windy days, they close it to the public because that part of the tower sways at least a metre and could make anyone get really acrophobic, even those who aren't.
i hope one day all of you will visit toronto and be able to say that summerfield introduced you to the tower.
@meggageg - sways only on really windy days. i think most skyscrapers now are made that way. it's a piece of cake, meg :-) @jannkc - thank you, jann. now i have to find good subjects to photograph. hehe.
Congrats on finishing your challenge! You did an amazing job and really did do the city and the Tower proud! This was a great idea for a photo...very cool. The view from up there is truly stunning and you captured it beautifully. Happy Canada Day!!!!!!!
@rynce - thank you very much, rynce. @sunnygreenwood - thank you so much, anne. i'm so glad you enjoyed it. @slang - thank you so much, sean. if you must know, your own work inspired some of the ideas i had as well as your and everyone's encouragement.
and i hope to meet you one of these days. let me know when you're going to be downtown or on the danforth. the pastry shop makes the most authentic pastries you could ever have. enjoy Canada day, ladies and gentleman.
@danig - thank you so much, DG. you're very kind. hehehe. i got today covered as well as tomorrow. sunday, i don't know yet but i'm dreading monday because i am coming up blank so i will wing the 7 deadly sins when i get there. :-)
so impressed with the quality of your comments that i have read, had to look at your wonderful photos. have been to your glorious city many times as a child with my father. this tower was not there then. look forward to viewing.
Oooh, so high in the sky! I've read about the restaurant in this tower, with a floor of glass.... ai ai ai... only the idea of walking across this floor makes me so scared.
@ilseal - aw, ms. ilse, come on now. it's a very sturdy building. they say that the glass floor had been tested and that 49 rhinoceros can all go on the glass floor. that's how strong it is! but i am still waiting the answer to my question as to how they managed to get 49 rhinoceros in there. it won't be so bad! :-)
Wow -- this may be my favorite (next to the foggy one!!!) -- really cool way to end the series! This has been so fun!! I always look forward to seeing your photos (I've been offline for a few days -- having withdrawal!!!) Thanks for this fun project during June!!!
