page 131, The Man Who Loved Books Too Much by Allison Hoover Bartlett
the word i chose from line 21 is "lane". actually in the book it is the name of one of the rare book dealers who had been duped by a rare book thief. but 'lane' is also a pathway or a narrow passage, say between walls, hedges or trees, like the one shown in the photo. this lane leads to a structure that used to be a holding cell for criminals in the 1800's. in the olden days, it took a while for people to reach the city, the motor car not having been invented yet. (but of course you all know that!) when captured criminals were transported from one jurisdiction to the other, the travel usually took more than 24 hours and if they set out in the middle of the day, they would have to stay the night somewhere.
this lane used to be an actual roadway, albeit really narrow. this is located in a wooded section of a town (which name i forgot, pardon me) which is about 65 kilometres northeast of toronto. it looks like it ends right at the dark part but it actually curves down.
@summerfield nah, I'm not really! I just love it, clever shot. hope you are having a nice day...oh, hang on it's evening isn't it! happy sleeping time then!
having a stressful night trying to figure out still what and what not to put in the darn suitcases. so i'm having a respite by looking in on 365. you're up early!
beautiful capture. i see a shot like this and long for my horse, amy. autumn was our favorite time to ride and this looks very much like the trail we often took.
@catsmeowb - thank you, camille. it's really amazing how each season has its own redeeming quality. this actually reminds me of a laneway i used to take to get to school when i was in grade one.
Oooh, so wonderful.... love the light, the colors, the sphere... everything. Here, in the Netherlands, it's autumn also. Love it! And thank you for all your comments, I appreciate them a lot.
