i do not own an armchair but this is one from the office reception area - large, leather-upholstered, you can smell big money when you sit on it. i've sat on the arm of one of these once whilst waiting for a meeting but i've never sat on it.
the only time i ever want an armchair is when i imagine what it would be like to have my whole apartment transformed into a library, with floor-to-ceiling shelves filled with all the books i've read and would like to read. there would be a ladder that slides from shelf to shelf. and there would be a large bay window, the sill transformed into a comfortable sitting corner with large cushions. and right in the middle is one large armchair in white leather where only i could sit when i read. well, you're welcome to join me but please bring your own armchair. :-)
I dream of floor to ceiling bookshelves in my living room! And a bay window to replace the one I have now. Maybe someday... Well the arm chair in your reception area looks very nice and I imagine your clients like it too!
Love the POV .. just beautiful. And that chair looks comfy. I'd definitely sit there. You made me stop and think tonight .. I don't have an armchair either. I want a wing-back, soft black leather, and comfortable. And tons of books. Oh ... a fireplace would be lovely.
@olivetreeann - thank you, ann. and a small portion of a wall just for the frame photographs! ah...i love dreaming, it's free!
@pamfromcalgary - eek! the TD bank armchair ads? those are hideous! hahaha! thank you, pam.
@karenann - i don't know about a fireplace. it might ignite a fire and all the books would be gone just like that! i'll put the fireplace in the dining room :-) thank you, karenann.
@sarasdadandmom - i hear ya! these armchairs costs more than the average person's mortgage! thank you, terry.
@cscecil - thank you, CS. now, i wonder if it's really a big room if i can put a baby grand by the bay window. nice eh?
"Smell big money when you are in it"...haha! Hilarious. I, too, wanted and almost got the shelf lined library but we moved to the lake house at that time I was about to really get on it...This was about 4 years ago. Then, Dan got a good job but closer to our main house, so he was going to spend some time there and I would spend some at the lake house and we'd meet each other at the other houses. Very Woody Allen Mia Farrow. Haha. The lake house is closer to my work and he wanted to have someone in it to make it "real" that we'd really move to it one day and sell our main house. Well, then he found out he had Parkinson's and did not feel too great. I immediately canned that plan and moved back to the main house. but we'd sold or stored a lot of furniture...most of my stuff in that library room and many of my books. :0( I was in a "pare down" mode but now I am sort of sorry. Now we are stuck with the two houses in a bad market....and we cannot move anyway due to hubby's job. Crazy world!
this is awonderful point of view ..in the photo..the flowers are gorgeous.. with the armchair at the back..
and.. I couldn't believe my eyes when I noticed your description of the appartment " ladder envy".. I am one "library with a ladder" wishing girl.... in fact.. you can see here my symbolic ladder.. http://365project.org/inertie/365/2012-01-13.. =) the world is full of wish sisters.. and I always enjoy to find anewone..=D.. have a nice day..
I'll bring a cushion, or maybe two, and sit on the floor! 8D We don't have an armchair either. Sofas are awesome because I can lie down on a sofa. I cannot lie down on an armchair. A great shot! (Even though I can't help but be distracted by the pretty orchid in the foreground. ;D )
@inertie - i imagined this shot the whole day yesterday and i'm glad it was relatively easy to achieve as i didn't bring my tripod. at close of business, no one's in the boardrooms so i am free to take photos of our reception.
i like your photo with the representation of a library with the "ladder", it is simple and effective in bringing back that one simple wish (although it's really not that simple a wish). you have beautiful handwriting.
i'm glad i found you, too, along with the few others who seem to have the same wishes as us. thank you, pinar, much appreciated.
@myautofocuslife - that is why i was never interested in an armchair, i can't lie on it. but if it is comfortably large enough like this one, i would consider having it, but not in my small apartment. i just might post the flower, you never know, but it might be in my other album if i do. thank you, livia.
