the new city hall by summerfield

the new city hall

and right next to the old city hall is toronto's new city hall building. where you see those orange cones, those are the spots where the temporary fountains were last week.

the courtyard between the large fountain and the new building are used for shows, fairs and other events that may benefit torontonians and guests. for example on wednesdays, a farmer's market is held here and that explains why the fountains were shut off.

i had previously posted a photo of the old and new city hall together: http://365project.org/summerfield/365/2011-07-13

drat! i knew i should've crossed the road to get a shot like that! oh, well, there's still next week! :-)

thank you, ladies and gentlemen, for your kind visits and precious comments; i appreciate and treasure them all. i will catch up with your albums tonight.

Love this. Nice work. That blue is fab and the building is very unusual. Nice job, well spotted.

Wow, that is a beautiful structure. You have captured it nicely with your level of exposure. I appreciate your PoV showing the curve of the structure.

wow! this is gorgeous! guess i've never been there at night - i don't recall it ever being lit up like that!
September 21st, 2012
@northy - been like that for a couple of years before the NDPs left. fountain/rink is being repaired though. gotta go back again sometime. thank you, northy.

They've got some nice lighting going on there. They should put the fountains back. I think it'd look really pretty with a lighted fountain bubbling away.

Beautiful building and love the way it is lit up. nice angle too............have you started the new artist challenge yet? I couldn't find it anywhere?
September 21st, 2012
@lesleyallen - thank you, lesley. no, i shall do the artist challenge on the weekend.

@olivetreeann - thank you, ann. on the artist challenge, do you know if there's a list of the artists that had been covered just so i don't make any duplication? thanks, ann.

@summerfield There is supposed to be an actual page for this and if you look through all the previous discussion Wendy gives me the link and the name of the fellow who runs it. That being said, no I don't think there's a list, but I don't think it matters too much. I've only participated in a few and each time the person in charge has chosen a different artist without duplicating. It is a daunting task, isn't it?!
September 22nd, 2012
@olivetreeann - it's so lonely up there! hahahaha! kidding aside, yes, it is quite daunting, especially for the ocd's like me.
September 22nd, 2012
@olivetreeann - i follow the artist challenge account but they stopped uploading after bahaus (spelling?). it might be jase who handled it, but i'm checking the past postings on themes and challenges. i do have 3 choices for artists, i just want to make sure i don't duplicate recent ones. thank you, ann.
