another drive by shot. this was on our way to keswick, ontario, about 78 kilometres north of toronto. partner would've been driving about 95 kmph (posted max speed was 80 kmph). he wouldn't stop or slow down because "there's no artistic merit in those things". but tonight he sees this and he goes 'wow!'
i'm sure the circular polarizing filter i was using has something to do with the pretty colours on this pic or it would've needed a lot of etsooi. i think i did pretty well, too, in composing the shot considering the speed we were travelling in.
this is for jeff walker and ann h. le fevre who both love old barns and silos.
thank you for your views and kind comments; know that they are truly appreciated.
Yummy. Yes. Very idyllic and Mrs. Smith loves old barns too. I hate drive by photography when I really want to stop but we'd never get anywhere so I just set my camera for sports mode and let him drive.
Great shot.
Been through most of your work - a fantastic and broad selection. Had a little trouble coming up with a challenge for you. You've managed to cover a lot of life's beauty brilliantly. So, for this week's challenge, I'd like you to take a "strangers" pic of the seedy part of life. Please, nothing dangerous. If you can't get them both, then one or the other will do. Have fun.
@northy - well, i'm envious of the narnia shot. there, we're even. you had the day off yesterday? and still you didn't catch me eating my banana and drinking my bubble tea outside the rbc plaza. yes, in the cold.
this is so wonderful, and love your narrative. i am getting very good a drive-bys - if not, i would never get any shots. malcolm stops now and then, but not often. there is never enough hours in the day. what is this called? the home-owner's lament? but, no complaints.
@summerfield what do you mean "in the cold"? it was a glorious day... well... until it started raining ;p but regardless, my boys insisted on wearing shorts... ok - RBC plaza... i need a full lunch hour for that, so will have to make time to stalk you next week... look out for crazy lady with camera ;p
@northy - why don't i just take you to lunch and we'll shoot each other (with our cameras) bwahahaha! if the weather is good today i'll be hunting for the grate sleepers as tinmaddog gave me a rather difficult push. might walk east on king towards church.
@russianblue - thank you, kass! sometimes, too, these lovely views are hiding behind the trees and you don't get to see them until late so just have to be fast on the shutter, too. heaven knows i have missed a lot of beautiful shots when we drive along the highways.
@summerfield I have mtgs up until noon and then problems to solve before tomorrow, so I am unlikely to make it down your way... Tomorrow is more of the same - hoping for time next week (hoping springing eternal and all that ;p)
