this is the third time i've attempted this food colouring photography and i'm not impressed with the results. i did just a few shots, 32 to be exact and i just gave up. but at least there's one, just one, that's presentable enough to get posted here. the other two times i tried, epic fail as hundreds of shots yielded nothing at all. so this one satisfies my bucket list.
partner said this looked like a beheaded dragon. i thought it looked like some red ink floating in the water. he said the colour looks like blood diluted in water. i thought it looked like some red dye dropped in water.
many years ago, back in the old country, in college, a group of psychiatrists tested some random students at the university for a study and i was one of those random students. thirty of us in all. they showed us photos of ink blots and while almost everyone else had their imagination on overdrive, seeing murdered bodies, thinking of maimed cadavers, the head psychiatrist got pissed with me because i had the same answer for all the photos: ink blots, which they were. he asked me to try and be a little bit creative. so i said "ink blots where the paper was folded in half so that you'd get a mirror image of the ink blot". and right there and then he diagnosed me as having some suppressed anger/memory problem. hah! did that piss me off! so i told him that his fly was open, whereupon he quickly looked down his fly, which wasn't open, dropped his glasses and the one eye broke. and i said, in my most innocent tone of voice, "oh, your glasses broke!"
moral of the story: don't mess with me or you'll end up being messed up. or with a broken pair of eyeglasses.
ba ha haaaaa! thank you so much for the laugh... you are too funny! (if it had been me and i was in a pissy mood, i prolly would have gone the other way and convinced him i was a serial killer or something... i DO so like to play with those who think they can play me ;p)
as for this - my first thought was that it was a smoke shot... mostly i just like that it is red... :)
Well even if you are not really happy with this shot at least it is off your bucket list. Now back to your story. You had me laughing so hard. I will remember the moral of this story and remember that when we meet, yes I did say when, I will make sure not to piss you off haha
i see a long-tailed kitty doing a stretch like kitties do with his front paws stretched out and his back side up in the air. the photo is great, and i so enjoy your stories!
WOW Vickie - Just to be sure I don't upset you further - this looks like red ink dropped in water.
I think this one turned out really well. Only 32 shots to get it you did good. Part of it looks like one of those smoke photos too - err I mean no it only looks like ink drops. LOL
@lesip - kind of difficult. i had a big round vase and am thinking of getting a small acquarium for this purpose alone. this hobby is getting to be too expensive! hahahaha! thank you, leslie.
I think you did a great job and much better than I can do. I recently played with water and oil and decided to put some food dye in it too and the dye went into the oil droplets and eventually popped....it was fun to watch.
Much better than my dismal effort this week.... You have my utmost sympathy! @humphreyhippo suggested putting a few drops of glycerine in the colouring to stop it dispersing quite so quickly!
@tanja_1211 - thank you, tanja. my problem, too, was the container i was using was a round vase. i was told i should have a flat container to get a better focus. will need to think about it.
@jackie8 - actually, i had oil on top of the water. it did hold up the colouring but once the colouring reached water, it dropped to the bottom real fast. i'll leave it for now and will re-visit it when the weather gets really cold. thank you, jackie.
