"My challenge for you is to do a ghost shot, take an ordinary scene and make it spooky with the addition of a ghostly figure only." this is the challenge i got from michael girard, my get pushed partner this week. and nothing is more mundane or ordinary than a hallway with almost nothing except a dehumidifying machine.
my grandsons darren and derrick were still very little boys when we moved into this apartment. they so enjoyed being babysat here and they loved running around because there's just a lot of space. one night as we were preparing to go to sleep, i told the boys to brush their teeth. the bathroom is on the left just before the back bedroom. i heard them whispering and i told them to be quick and go to bed. little darren who was just beginning to speak clearly said that there's a man by the door. grandpa partner wasn't home yet so it was just the three of us in the apartment. so i yelled "heathcliff, don't scare the boys or you're out of here!" then i asked the boys, "is it still there?" derrick, the older boy, came to me and asked, "why do you have a ghost in your home?" "ghost? what ghost?" and they both replied: "heathcliff! you called him heathcliff!"
needless to say, i had two boys who wouldn't go to sleep with the excuse that they're waiting for grandpa to come home, occasionally glancing at the hallway. only when partner arrived did they settle in their beds after grandpa assured them that i was just pulling their legs.
hmmm...i just noticed, heathcliff's not been around for quite a while now.
@eniaral - it could be done as a double exposure but that's not what i did. i did a long exposure, 10 seconds, in fact. i stood in the middle of the hallway then, using remote control, i triggered the shutter. then i walked backwards and slipped to the washroom. i played with lights in the bathroom and my bedroom reflecting on the hallway but i like this much better. kinda lost my feet but it gave the feeling of the image floating. thank you, laraine.
@abhijit - hahaha! thank you, ab.
