i used to borrow my friend christine's blings whenever i need them for self portraits. during spring and summer whenever there are sales in the shops around the office, i found myself buying them, as in inordinate quantities, knowing i won't be using them except for self portraits, if and when i want to do them. there are more in a big plastic box underneath my bed and i get a sense of disgust with myself every time i vacuum and i would see this big box with all these shit. i would think it's almost too greedy (not quite, almost) to own so much of this, and i'd feel guilty. but as soon as i close the box and put it away, i don't feel guilty anymore. :-)
I've been finding stuff for photo props at a thrift store near work, and occasionally have bought stuff at the dollar store, just for 365 themes and challenges.
I don't know if 365 props qualify as greed- especially if you're the one who's buying them. Greed would be taking them from Christine and never giving them back just because YOU want them. Just saying!
@pandorasecho - shoes! i didn't think of that! i could've shot all my shoes. but then, it would entail taking them out of the boxes, setting them up, taking photos, etc. etc. this was better, i just took what wast on top of the big box and voila! i am such a sloth! hahahaha!
What is the fascination with shoes? I never understand. If I have five pair then three pairs are never being worn while one is lived in and the other is for in the river and at the beach
