Remember being a little kid, going to the dentist reluctantly but knowing you'd get a balloon or some kind of treat for being good? At my dentist, whose office is on the 18th floor looking out at Millennium Park, if I'm good he lets me take photos with the window open (!!!) of the city.
A great opportunity. I just wish I'd remembered that I had put my ISO at 6400 last night to take a (failed) photo of a pumpkin. It's a bit grainy, but I'm pretending it's just the constant rain that poured all day today.
My childhood dentist never gave me a treat, even though he pulled 7 teeth in one day (including 4 permanent teeth where there were still baby teeth on top of them!). My dentist today gives me a toothbrush. I'm going with you to visit your dentist next time! What a view! and what color! I'm sure the graininess is due to rain. At least, that's my excuse.
What a nice dentist! Lovely shot too, beautiful colours. A view that must help to mellow the nausea I get when I even think of going to the dentist :-)
Now when I saw the thumbnail, I thought that this was some trays of produce in a market or something but now I can see that it is autumnal trees and I can say "Wow! Look at that colour!" A lovely shot.
@taffy -- and especially too bad our publisher doesn't take us to lunch at the top of that building any more . . . would have had a great view there, too but I don't think the windows would have opened.
The grainy nature is actually good as it appears overcast but the color pops. I have a dentist intown and may make the same request, especially after they pull out the "jackhammer" on me. HAHAHA
Well done you for even plucking up the nerve to ask if you could take a photo... I'd be too self conscious! Amazing view, love the colours. Hope your check up was ok!
@myhrhelper No worries! I'm guessing I'll end up with shoes -- no dust or flying particles to be found! And I"m not at home this weekend so can't re-take an older photo. SO I have my eyes out for something interesting that will work!
Great POV! Awesome colors and beautiful focus (I viewed it large) amazing capture! Loved the cityscape and street scene. Enjoyed your narrative bunches! So, how many people can you take with you to the dentist next time? Lol!
@sunraye Thanks Raye! He's told me that anytime I'd like, I can come up to photograph from their office suite, as long as the room(s) are free. I'm going to take them up on it!
Hi. I’ve had a look at several of your images. A wide range of subject and technique. And so many PP. I haven’t had one so I am very impressed. One thing I have noticed is there are not many people in your photographs. Don’t worry, I won’t force a selfie on you. I challenge you to take an environmental portrait. This is a portrait of someone within their own surroundings: a butcher in his shop, swimmer in a pool etc. This can be someone you know or someone you don’t. It can be candid but best results are from spending some time considering how the subject interacts with their surroundings. Hope this is OK for you.
@olivetreeann This office was his dad's before him -- quite a great spot to have had for decades. And he's so generous about my staying later to take photos.
And you still got a treat! ;-)
