A popular spot for coffee outside one of our Whole Foods stores, in a picturesque spot along the Chicago River. BUT, today, I could barely get the door open with winds blowing, to capture an outdoor shot before the freezing cold, 'tundra'-like weather hits on Sunday. Just before sunset, taken on my way to an appointment at Apple to learn how use iMovie to create an end of year video of my favorite shots. The one hour lesson took 10 minutes -- it's very easy, it turns out, even with the newer iMovie application.

@luvmynynix Thanks for the view and comment, Laurie. This is not HDR. I used Color Efex Pro to up some of the color and details as it was so dull outside today, even at sunset.
I can FEEL the cold through your picture! I know exactly where you took this photo . . . and it would have been warmer inside, having baked potatoes than out there! Glad you learned, so I can learn from you!
brrrrr.... but a very lovely shot! can't wait to see your end of year slide show! i found iMovie relatively intuitive - just frustrating that it seemed to have lost some of the functionality that seems to have existed previously
As a few have said above, I knew this was yours right away. Just another in a long line of wonderful "vivid" and perfectly colored pics. You have a real talent for composing pics that grab ones attention as well as a great eye for color.
@northy I was surprised as it hasn't changed much in the basics. But I realize I had way too many photos so am doing some very drastic cuts and trying to do some groupings. Will take longer than I had planned, but good to do on these really cold days coming up, instead of going out on photo walks!
I think I know the spot where you took the shot. It was so lovely and sunny when I saw it. Now it inspires chills and cold, frozen feet and fingers...Brrrrr!
@faffy Wow! (I use that word a lot when looking at your photos *grin*) That's gorgeous! Like everyone else says, I can practically feel the wind chill... Brrr! But I can also imagine what it must be like to sit there in the spring and summer to enjoy a drink and the skyline in the distance. Well done!
@hillymay@sailingmusic@angiec Thank you so much, Hilary, Myrna, and Angie! I appreciate the visit and the comments, as well as your fav's -- you are so reinforcing!
@aprilmilani I can't figure out if I responded in reality or in my head! Just in case -- a great challenge and I've started working on Jim to be a model for an idea I am framing. Keeping fingers crossed!
Wow! This is amazing, Taffy! I love the light and the processing. The snow is probably preventing the outdoor seating being used, eh? So pretty. Love Whole Foods. Nearest one to me is in Seattle 60 miles away but on occasion I have to make the trip to stock up. FAV
@jankoos Thanks Jan!! We have a new favorite called Mariano's -- sort of a cross between Whole Foods, Trader Joes, and Costco and the best of all three. Amazing how a grocery store can bring out such joy!!
@taffy - oh that sounds like a fantastic store - and you are right about the joy. We eat mostly natural and organic and I make our meals from scratch so those places are all awesome!
@happysnap Heehee!! Hawaii -- warm, sunny, a joy; Chicago (at the moment): cold, wet, covered in snow, a 'different' kind of beauty and one I don't want to go out to experience!
Fabulous composition Taffy, the tones are stunning and the shot really gives the felling of cold. Congrats on TT for this great image.
A very belated Happy New Year to you too!

Thank you so much Paula, Joey, Arefin, Lucy, Amrita, and Caz! What an exciting thing to find when I logged in!! It means a lot and what a way to start the year. I remember last year at this time learning about TT and seeing @michaelelliot photos of New York, and dreaming about being able to photograph Chicago in that way. I never dreamed I'd make it though!!
I saw this in the Top Twenty - it's spectacular! I like the golden, copper tone in this picture. I bet it's a great place to sit and enjoy your coffee in nice weather, what a view of the city!
I hope you have fun with this. You are a tough one to find a challenge for. God Bless=D
