Following our visit to Rousillion yesterday, after walking through the ocher cliffs and following a triple scoop of ice cream which served as our lunch, we drove to Gordes. This beautiful hilltop village has become home to the 'beautiful people' -- a fairly wealthy enclave of large homes behind gates -- all with pretty amazing views. We were lucky that the rain held until after we had left the red ocher, and it gave us a pretty dramatic backdrop in the village square. Jim and Bill waited in the car while Junko and I did a photo walk, so we didn't have a lot of time to explore.
Combined from 3 photos in photomatix and tweaked in Color Efex Pro for contrast.
We leave with such wonderful experiences of our time in Provence and look forward to a return visit someday. We're lucky to have friends who live here! Off to Barcelona in the morning.
Thanks as always for your kind comments on my photos and your understanding for my lack of commenting while traveling. Maybe internet will be more reliable at our hotel in Barcelona...
@pitasmum We didn't make it to the Gordes one, but have had great fun at Vaison La Romaine's and at Carpentras. I wish we had markets like these at home -- fun things, but also great fresh food!! We had a fantastic paella for lunch one day, and so much good fruit, veggies, fish, etc. Thanks for your comment!
Gosh I seem to have missed your shots for a while and see you are travelling in Europe and seems like you are having lots of tun. Love this shot and how the buildings are converging towards each other.
One day, when you have time, you must really give me a lesson in DR processing...you get such beautiful, natural looking results. This is such a perfect picture, with superb focus and immaculate detail of both the building and the dramatic sky...well deserved fav!
@ericdibosco We could do a screen share one day this summer -- I'm happy to show you what I do -- I use photomatix and then clean up in Color Efex or Aperture. I am flattered you think my HDR work is strong as it's something I've really worked at.
@taffy I also use Photomatix, but usually leave it basically as it comes out there, having chosen the most natural outcome and perhaps making slight adjustments to saturation, contrast etc...I'll have to work at it a bit more I suppose!
@busylady Where are you in Spain? We have our last night tonight in Barcelona and then head home. I've loved these 10 days in southern Europe -- what a gorgeous place for photography, as well as great food and wine!
