This was the scene about an hour before the fireworks started last night. I was on a pier to see if it would work for a good vantage point. It would have except the mosquitoes spread the word that I was there and I was driven away from the shore! At least I took a few shots before giving up my spot to them.
Thank you for the wonderful comments and favs on the fireworks shots from last night -- it made it worth every mosquito bite I got!
Very lovely....the lighting a reflection are wonderful It would have been pretty without the boat...but so glad it was there. The composition is just spot on!!
Lovely early evening shot - so tranquil ('cause I can't see those darn mosquitos! I've been walking in the early mornings with a net over my head to survive - fortunately no one is around on the route I take)
So beautiful - such a peaceful feel to the shot! Shame about the mozzies! I can't stand them as I always get infected if I get bitten so now I am neurotic about them! Lol!
Wonderful sense of peacefulness. What a contrast to Chicago! Bummer re the mosquitoes though. I got eaten alive two years ago when I was shooting the fireworks
This looks so lovely and peaceful. I understand about the mosquitoes- they love my blood too! Have you ever tried Skin So Soft bath oil by Avon? Not the bug spray- the oil? It works really well because it has citronella in it. I use it a lot when I'm working in the garden- or photographing it!
@jgpittenger :-) Nutmeg is why I joined 365 in the first place. She was a Bernese Mountain Dog, 12 at the time, unable to walk on her own from a failed surgery to repair a back problem. Quite a hard experience and we were pretty housebound with her. She used to post on 365 - here's her first one: http://365project.org/taffy/365/2013-05-26
Here's the final posting featuring her and a few earlier that are more upbeat. http://365project.org/taffy/365/2013-06-22http://365project.org/taffy/365/2013-04-27
One of the reasons we got the Bernie is that we were going to get a Newfoundland until I was totally put off by the drool...and Bernese Mountain Dogs have some St Bernard in them when they were trying to strengthen the breed!
@olivetreeann I've tried it but have not had much luck. Not matter what I've used, I've gotten bitten. Right now, I have about 10 bites even with spray and other stuff -- and Jim has absolutely zero!
@veengupta Thanks for all the visits today! I'll return the favor but it may be a week before things settle down. i just wanted you to know I appreciated your time on my albums and your kind comments.
