Today was such a dreary day so I decided to work on photos for photo books I'm organizing. I returned to photos from Krakow. Now an art museum, it's history -- especially during WWII -- was not so pristine. Processed with HDR from three images.
Thanks for all the comments/comparisons between the color and b&w versions of the Citi building -- it's so interesting how personal it ends up being whether the preference is for b&w or color, whether color is key to the image or a 'distraction' from the lines/angles/shadows. Fun to read your comments!

It's very cold with a nasty strong westerly today, and the sight of those bare trees made me shiver (not to mention the history of this place). Nonetheless I think this is a very good shot Taffy, the HDR has brought out the best of that foreboding sky and your pov certainly gives the palace a feeling of towering over its surrounds.
The history of this building and your POV give this image such a foreboding, dominating feel, emphasized by the dramatic sky. After all the excitement here at home is done, I would be interested to learn more about photo books, too. :)
I really like the HDR processing here Taffy, more than the b&w shot, and what a great POV you had. I have missed so much since not posting regularly as I had no idea you had been to Poland.
@paulaw Thanks, Paula. The weather was cool, but not that cold so the river was running. What I saw mostly was rain and gray, cloudy skies. Besides, of course, the rich history and architecture.
We visited in February 2012 and it was freezing. The river was frozen apart from a small area by the castle where the ice was broken for the swans. We also visited Auschwitz on that trip and despite our ski wear and hand and foot warmers we were still freezing. Doesn't bear thinking about!
Great processing once again Taffy! Not too overdone as many hdr shots are ( not by you!). Great building and the sky gives us the right atmosphere! Fav!
Magnificent shot and the processing is superb. Isn't a program that helps with processing like LR wonderful because we can take a cloudy day with very little light and make a great shot.
