Wrigley Field is usually home to the Chicago Cubs -- a baseball team that is known for not having won a championship in 104 years. They help Chicagoans stay humble. Last night, though, it was home to a packed Billy Joel concert, complete with the surprise piano-top barefoot dance to Uptown Girl by Jennifer Lawrence (of Hunger Games and other movie fame) and Amy Schumer (a popular young comedic writer and actor). A full moon rising between the lower and upper stands, a gorgeous night. Everyone stood for the almost 3 hour concert (except for a few wimpy folks like me who had to take a break and sit down). We don't do this sort of concert often so it was great fun and a major cultural event. All photos are best viewed small!
@trm I was shocked, actually, and the number of people with cameras and iPhones videotaping his songs and no one said a thing! I guess by the time you are at Billy Joel's level, he doesn't really care if someone has an iPhone or quality concert recording!
@trm hope this is a new trend. If you are established icon let us have a small piece for our record books. I was at shakespear play outside and could not take one non flash pic. They had a photograpger taking pics and posting to Facebook. The theater came back to me and said go to Facebook and download whatever you like. There were not even any watermarks. Go figure. Your concert pics are as good as I have seen. The mirrorless camera are slipping in everywhere but the access you had.
Wow, I am super jealous. He is one of my favourite performers. Awesome collage too. I was lucky enough to drive past Wrigley field when I was in Chicago, but we didn't have time to go in and have a look.
Beautiful collage... I especially like the large black and white central image... The light is gorgeous, and it so perfectly embodies the energy of a rock concert
Wow this is a fabulous collage Taffy!! What great shots really giving the atmosphere of the concert!! Such good closeup shots too!! Very lucky to have seen this!! Fav!
You really got the feel of an exciting summer concert at night, that's for sure. I really enjoy the central image, with the hands up, the silhouettes and the flares of light. You got some good shots of the man, himself, too. The full moon on the left is a nice bonus. Sounds like big fun. :)
@rosiekerr Thanks! The central image was my favorite as well. I almost only posted that one, but there were so many to convey what it was like at Wrigley it was hard not to end up using a collage to do it justice.
@panthora I was amazed...we were filing out of the field predicting it would take an hour and a half to do the 30 minute trip home, and we were home 40 minutes later! We were lucky to get on the first train out of the elevated station across from the stadium.
nice montage taffy
