While in California, one of the real photographic joys was watching surfers in a very high surf negotiate the waves. They did an amazing dance on their boards as they almost floated above, in, and sometimes even almost below the waves. The color of the water changed as they moved through the water and the sun's path.
For Where's Waldo fans, all but one of the photos is the same surfer. I was one photo short, so brought in someone with a similar shape and style. You'd need to have a fair amount of time on your hands or be fairly compulsive to find him -- but it that's you, good luck! I'll post which one tomorrow if no one locates the 'odd man out.'
Thank you all SO much for your response to the sunset/pier shots. It's been so rewarding and I really appreciate it!
@beachdog Of course someone with the 'beachdog' handle would figure this out so quickly! The main guy has a patterned surfboard and the outlier's is plain white.
Oh, so cool. As I said on @jyokota's feed, I would so love to shoot surfers. Excellent collection! For some reason, the shot on Flickr is super-clear. :)
What an awesome collage Taffy. I love the action shots all together and the beautiful changing color of the water! What an amazing young surfer... I saw your large one (with your link) and it's just so beautiful!
Fascinating collage- we have quiet few surfers here cus it's getting cold now-and not easy to shoot em for they're so quick and fast!-- love & fav what u did here:)
@redy4et Thanks! The pier was such a perfect place to catch these shots. The one you like to me is such a classic pose. That's why I started the collage with it!
Absolutely love this despite not having time to find waldo (we call him wally here) Great set of shots and collage. The colours are also so lovely. I guess that's California for you! One day I may get to visit......
Fabulous collage Taffy! So many wonderful action shots! Just looked on Flickr and tried to comment but it's so long since I used it I can't remember password! Anyway the curve of the water is just brilliant! Such a great pov! To be able to stand on the pier and get so close - what s gift! Fav of course!
@olivetreeann I was so bugged by that that I actually created a whole new collage, but now that it's done, I think it's silly to replace it. Oh well...thanks as always for the visits and comments tonight.
@taffy I think you tapped into one of those quirks of human nature. Tell people you did something so well they won't figure it out, and of course they'll do everything in their power to prove you wrong!
@panthora You are so fortunate to live so close to this area. In going over my photos from the photo meet-up, I could just keep working on them for the foreseeable future! What a gorgeous place with such wonderful lighting!
