Sagrada Familia Pipe Organ by taffy

Sagrada Familia Pipe Organ

More from Barcelona. I loved the ways this cathedral-in-progress reflected today's world, with elements of classical cathedral architecture, like the stained glass window forms.
Thanks for your comments and fav's that put La Perdrera on PP today!
Here's Junko's more surreal take on these pipes: http://365project.org/jyokota/365/2015-12-17
Beautiful stained glass windows! Those organ pipes are rather spectacular. Were you able to hear what sound they produce?
December 19th, 2015
@salza Sadly no. At least I don't think so. There was music playing, but I'm thinking it was from something else (as in recorded).
December 19th, 2015
@taffy I would imagine that the sound would be rather spectacular and that you would definitely know that it was coming from the pipes. Just seeing those pipes must be quite a sight even without sound!

So glad to see inside this place - it was so full of queues of tourists on a very hot day that we didn't go inside!
December 19th, 2015
The pipes certainly catch the eye, they are magnificent.
December 19th, 2015
Beautiful. What a wonderful blue glow from the organ pipes!
December 19th, 2015
Amazing organ - I expect it sounds beautiful.
December 19th, 2015
Wow what a wonderful organ and beautiful stained glass windows! Just imagine being there when the organ is playing - heavenly! Fav!

Kim
Fantastic, I love the pipes!
December 19th, 2015
What beautiful organ. The only time I visited Sagrada Familia, the main section was under construction and didn't see the organ. I hope in some century we will see this Gaudi's masterpiece finished ;)
December 19th, 2015
Love the symmetry in this shot! Guessing the sound from those pipes would be amazing.
December 19th, 2015
This is indeed interesting as you can't pinpoint a style or a time here. It does blend different approaches and historical periods - which is the trademark of the cathedral.

It's funny, isn't it fellow 365ers, that you can go "ooooooooo" when you catch a glimpse of a photo before you you're aware who took it and just know you love it. Done it again Taffy. Fantastic composition. Fav.

This is must be the second time you are there when I am in 365. What a lovely place to photography. The last few days photos are a treat to view.

Gosh...wonderful shot. So dramatic and colourful. Love the symmetry. A dramatic organ for dramatic music.
December 19th, 2015
Something very face-like about this scene.
December 19th, 2015
Another super shot Taffy
December 19th, 2015
Wonderful shapes and symmetry in these organ pipes... what a magnificent instrument, in a beautiful setting. Super composition.
December 19th, 2015
Such a great shot and what a great building!
December 19th, 2015
Beautiful shapes, lines and symmetry to this. Excellent shot.
December 19th, 2015
Super shot, symmetry, lines...love the arched windows, colors
December 19th, 2015
Beautiful capture, great symmetry. Fav!! 😃
December 19th, 2015
Lovely balance and blue tones
December 19th, 2015
I love your colours and lighting with nice symmetry

@yaorenliu Yes, when I was there in May there were so many tourist buses and people that we did not go in. I also didn't understand that the cathedral was still under construction! This time, it was wonderful to see the inside and to know more about the progress of building this masterpiece. Very special!!
December 19th, 2015
@maggiemae When we were there in May, that was the situation as well, so we didn't go in, and everything was behind scaffolding and tarp. So I didn't really understand then the significance of the cathedral and its construction. This time, I was far more prepared (last time was a two-day stopover on the way back from France) and was SO glad we were able to spend time inside, and without so many tourists -- no lines, plenty of open space inside...just wonderful!! Traveling off-season has its advantages!

........beautiful taffy
December 19th, 2015
Wonderful shot.
December 19th, 2015
How I want to go back to Barcelona having seen your photos. We were only there for a day trip so didn't see much.
December 19th, 2015
I think music from these pipes would enter from your core eve if recorded. That is how I feel Kotzschmar Organ the couple of times I have heard it.
December 19th, 2015
So majestic, love how they contrast with the stained glass window :)
December 19th, 2015
wonderful pipes and windows - love the light and colour
December 19th, 2015
Very impressive set of pipes and a lovely stained glass window too. Great shot.
December 19th, 2015
Beautiful photo. Pipe organs are amazing. I really like the blue glow.
December 19th, 2015
Armchair traveling with you is a treat.
December 19th, 2015
Love the symmetry in this shot fav
December 19th, 2015
@shepherdmanswife I already want to go back! We were there in May, but on a layover, so barely saw anything. Now that I see how great a walking city it is, and how photogenic, it would be easy to go back again and again and not tire of it.
December 20th, 2015
Oh so beautiful, very impressive organ and stained glass!
December 20th, 2015
You are teh queen of arcitechure and symmetry
December 20th, 2015
Wow, that's some organ Taffy, very impressive indeed. Great colours and symmetry in this shot. Love what looks like a throne in the centre.
December 20th, 2015
@golftragic I agree--very throne-like even in person!
December 20th, 2015
Very striking! I imagine when the organ is played you feel it in every bone of your body. Those pipes would only be a small part of all the pipes used for an organ in a cathedral of that size.
December 20th, 2015
Wonderful capture of this space!
December 20th, 2015
Phenomenal capture. Fav
December 20th, 2015
Great symmetry
December 20th, 2015
Fabulous symmetry - wonderful color and light - beautifully composed.

It is beautifully framed! I had a little chuckle at the legs at the top (the crucifixion? ).
