Blue Sculpture by taffy

Blue Sculpture

In the middle of the Illinois building -- a riot of color (reds, aqua, yellow, orange, blue) -- this sculpture barely is noticeable. But once the garish color is removed from behind, it's quite a pretty blue sculpture. And it's huge, despite being dwarfed by the lobby.

Not normally a fan of sc, but great use of it here. As you said it would be totally lost if the building was in color too!

Interesting capture. The blue sculpture looks great against against the silvery architecture behind. Nicely edited.

My eyes are drawn to the wonderful lines and shapes of the building behind the sculpture. Not a,fan of sc but it works well here.
April 6th, 2016
Wow. Excellent use of selective color.
April 6th, 2016
Taking the colour out of the building has accentuated its wonderful lines and shapes and showcased the sculpture.
April 6th, 2016
A great candidate for selective colour.
April 6th, 2016
If the sculpture is huge the building must be mega huge. Really great shot.
April 6th, 2016
Excellent selective colouring. As you said it would be lost if the building was in colour too. What a fabulous building too though. It looks quite futuristic. Like brave new world.

Great use of selective colour!
April 6th, 2016
the SC is perfect to enhance the sculpture but my eye is naturally drawn to the wonderful detail and tones in the B&W section of the photo.

April 6th, 2016
Awesome capture. I love all the patterns.
April 6th, 2016
This is amazing! The way you have colored it makes the sculpture really stand out!
April 6th, 2016
Great SC image and the b&w enhances all the lines and patterns, if I may make one suggestion, there is still some blue tones in the rest of the image, which distracts from the main subject if at all possible I would try to get that in b&w as well
April 6th, 2016
Clever use of SC I love the result. Fav
April 6th, 2016
Love the detail, texture and selective colour
April 6th, 2016
I like your use of selective colour here. I would be interested to see a full colour image.

Saw the original on my feed first, and this use of selective color really did make quite the difference. Much easier to see in this.
April 6th, 2016
Wow, what a difference the sc makes, it's so much more impressive without all the other vibrant colour vying for attention.
April 6th, 2016
I preferred your later post of a similar image, because I felt that in that version the colour had a rap around effect, whereas is this version the buildings are a mere background.

Superb use of selective coloring!! Stunning detail!

Simply brill so Fav and follow

Love the b & w of the building background and sc of the sculpture
April 7th, 2016
Congratulations on making the Trending Page and the PP. Well deserved.
April 7th, 2016
This is a great example of how selective color can be so effective. The interior of the building is really great in b&w, but it doesn't distract from the blue of the sculpture. Very cool.
April 7th, 2016
Well thought and executed
April 8th, 2016
Nice way to pull it out and get the notice it deserves! All the architecture lines help set it off as well.
April 9th, 2016
Super in sc!
April 9th, 2016
The comparison here of the full color and selective color versions shows so well how to use selective color to make a powerful statement.
April 9th, 2016
Great selective colour!
April 10th, 2016
I so do prefer the sc. FAV
