Proud Lion... by taffy

Proud Lion...

From my photo meetup with @ukandie1 at the Art Institute to see the Van Gogh exhibit. This is one of the two iconic Chicago lions who flank the main entrance to the museum.
Using Topaz Textures with inanimate objects here just to see what might happen. Not sure how I feel about it, actually.
Apologies about sporadic commenting...this is likely to continue through May. Too much going on and I decided, since I'm in Year 4, it's okay to take a bit of a sort-of break. I'm still going to try to post daily, as I need to do that for the discipline. I'll also view daily as I really enjoy seeing what my friends are posting. My commenting, though...I just can't keep up at the moment.
Finally, thank you for putting the Calder shot on PP. Hadn't even expected much in the way of comments on that one! So very much appreciated.
Has this lion got something in his mouth? The bottom jaw looks rather full! Magnificent sculpture and I like the muted light and colour!

I do like this use of the textures as it makes the lion really stand out from the busy background. But I can still see the muted background which I like. Don't worry about commenting - I think we are all in the same busy boat at the moment but you have even more going on!! Just keep posting as I make sure I have time for your fab shots!! Fav!

Again, nice use of textures. Always fun to see something you see so often looking different.

I recognized the lion immediately! I quite like what you've done to incorporate the background and add the textures to it!

The way you've focussed the light on that lion makes for a very striking photo, especially with the monotone city in the background.
