While in Hilo, Junko and I decided to photograph in a cemetery we had passed by several times on our way to the volcano. It had a gigantic monkey tree which was our reason for photographing there, but in the end, I found the various sections (Japanese, Korean, Christian, Mormon) to be where the interesting images could be found. I don't know the significance of this particular headstone, but found the sphere to be surreal compared especially compared to the others. Next will be to explore how it looks in b&w.
Love all those different shapes and lines and the sphere is fascinating!! I always want to know the story behind the headstones!! Going to Devon at the end of October and we are going to see if we can find some old family headstones. Should be an interesting search!! Fav!!
It must have some sort of significance- something like the circle of life perhaps? Who knows- but it does stand out amongst the others. I think it will look even better in black and white.
Nicely composed, and I look forward to seeing how this will look in b&w. I want to shoot in Graceland Cemetery sometime this month before the trees have lost all their leaves, are you interested?
well done
Interesting shapes!
