Yet another posting from Anza-Borrego State Park. Thank you for putting my pano from yesterday's post on PP! A treat to see it there. This is the opposite -- a closeup of what it felt like to be walking among the rocks that formed what are referred to as 'slot canyons' -- I assume because of the thin slots the paths make through the rocks. Lighting was tricky -- this is a combination of 3 bracketed shots.
Heading to Portland for a family visit (lots of family members converging there) this weekend, so unlikey to be posting or taking other than family shots. Wishing everyone a great weekend.
Great shot, Taffy. I am so amazed at what you photograph. What great lighting too. Question: You were looking at cameras a ways back. I am thinking about getting back to a Nikon which I used only for a short time once and then bought my Sony a6000. Having a hard time getting used to it and have a chance to buy a Nikon D5000 from my cousins wife. Any thoughts on this? I know you are busy, when you have time. Thanks a bunch. Have a great weekend.
I just love the US slot canyons! We visited Antelope slot canyon when my daughter was living in Arizona. The only issue I had there was that you get herded in and out of the canyon, with hardly time for a photograph - except where they let you stop! Not the best of conditions for amazing shots, but it is the most amazing of places! This shot is lovely and it looks as if you had the place to yourself!
@jamibann I was the only 'serious' photographer in the group, so the guide (who also was a stock photographer) had me go in ahead of the group (they were getting chairs and filling water bottles as we had lunch in that area) had me get my stuff and go in first to get the shots in there. A really thoughtful guide! Most of my other shots had people in them.
@darsphotos HI Darlene...I wish I could help, but I don't know anything about the D5000. One option - you've probably already thought of this -- is to read reviews on Amazon to get a sense of what people who have used it think.
@taffy Thank you so much, Taffy. Think I will pass on this based on what I have read and been told from a few people. If you put all of us together on 365 you would have such diversity in cameras.
This is just amazing! I would love to visit somewhere like this. I didn't realise that there were more places other than Antelope canyon that look like this.
I thought I'd commented on this. Wonder what happened to it? Nice job of taming the bright at the end and beautiful composition. I notice that I wish there were a bit more shadow detail and color. I'm guessing that doing HDR and or focus stacking wasn't an option with all the non photographers. Such a beautspot. I bet you were itching to play with it more
@jgpittenger You did comment -- but it was in Flickr. And no, they were gracious enough to have me to into the area before the others (while they were getting water bottles filled) but no tripod and only quick HDR was feasible with the way the tour was set up. I did lighten it a bit in LR after your comment but I'd already posted this one.
