With the snow, Junko and I thought it would be worth the risk to our cameras to take a quick ride to the Baha'i Temple to take pictures as both of our guys were hard at work and ignoring us. Unfortunately, when we got there Junko's camera battery was dead. So, she graciously waited for me to take a few shots and then we headed back to get her battery. By the time we got to the house, we'd both decided it was too cold and wet to go back. I'm glad to have gotten one that I liked!
I've been reading about the severe weather. I have just missed it as I crossed the continent last week, and am now here in Australia. Fortunately, so far, missing the extreme heat that will cover much of the country tomorrow. SE Queensland seems to be in the "sweet spot" much of the time. Sort of around an aperture of f/8. :)
@dide -- yes, it was. I have turned on my GPS on my camera a couple of months ago and the battery drains even when I'm not using it. I had just put a fresh battery and charger in a case to prepare for our next trip, and I should have put it in my camera!
Stunningly beautiful shot & process. @jyokota The cold doesn't help batteries either, does it. A spare in your warm pocket fro now on?? A lesson for all of us.
@special4k I did post processing with Silver Efex but don't remember exactly what I did in that program. Probably started with high contrast and then fiddled with the sliders, then imported back to LR to finish up tweaking it.
I thought I recognised this. A lovely shot in the snow and I bet it's cold there. Funnily enough I emailed my images in for the next camera club competition today and included one of the temple but there were blue skies in mine. Fav for this lovely image that looks great in monochrome
I've just been reading about the latest Arctic Vortex. You must be a hardy lot in Chicago. Gorgous treatment of this delicately ornate building. Looks wonderfully mysterious.
How wonderful to see this in winter and I think even more beautiful than when we saw it in sunshine and blue skies. Lovely memories Taffy!! Beautiful processing too!! Fav!!
